Without retirement income Andrea depends on sales like these to pay her basic living expenses. Thank you for your kindness.
These need to be appraised before I can price them.
Letter to Ohio Governor David Tod, from Henry S. Magraw,
Pennsylvania State Treasurer, August 11, 1862.
This may have been written on behalf of Elijah Reynolds, son of my great, great grandfather Elijah Reynolds. He was a prisoner held at Johnson's Island prison for Confederate soldiers at Sandusky Ohio. He carved a cane which I sold to a collector. I will have more items and letters to post from Civil War era.
IOU from 1798 (225 years old!). Joseph Edmundson was my 3-times great grandfather. Neither people could write so they each made a mark. Rebecah, Joseph's daughter, was only 7 years old, born in 1791.
Four months after date I promise to pay or cause to be paid unto Joseph Edmundson of the state of Maryland the just and full sum of twenty four pounds and fifteen shillings lawful gold or silver of the state of Pennsylvania the same being (for due fee) as witness my hand and seal this this 24th day May 1798
Witness present
Rebecca (her mark) Edmundson Joseph Edmondson (his mark) of Newbury Township
